In the podcast, you asked what we are shooting this summer. My summer project is shooting vintage drag racing with black and white film. I have already used up my box of FPP Mummy in 4x5 and 2 35mm rolls of Mummy at a race. Having lots of fun with this. Will be using Speed and Crown Graphics, various toy cameras and Nikon F3s. Might even dust off one or 2 of my old Movie Cameras. Gotta see what the budget allows. Too much fun.

anyone know how to fix a non-working light meter in one of these?

You can scan it with a 16mm gate right? as to have the multiple image effect

Thanks for bringing obscure, strange and/or unusual films to us filmtographers. I need to fire up the credit card (again) to get some Color 125. Even if my film fridge is a bit full at the moment.

I’ve been using my “FPP Heat Helper” for so many things since I got it. I’ve dyed a shirt, cooked meat, and of course developed film. It’s been a good unit.

Great I just got one that is working at all speeds. Thanks for the overall review. I think the only thing was missing was about the fixed focus of the lens.

Last week I tested a few rolls of Svema low ISO film from around 1989 to 1991 - K2N? In any case, I did get far better results with my FED 2 and Bessa L. I did use film in the sunny desert at over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. I did get some remarkable photographs. My FED2 had quite a bit of distortion; the Bessa L had much better results. I used a similar Soviet 50mm lens in each case. I highly recommend polishing the end result in Photoshop and/or other tool.

These results are remarkably good. I imagine with subtle tweaking of the exposure and if taken on a well set up Nizo Professional or Bauer, the results would be even better. I could EASILY have believed your footage was filmed on 16mm - it really is that good.

I don't have experience from this particular kit, but these "simplified home kits" are all based on Tetenal's press kit from the 1980's. They have some flaws. The blix is the weakest point, and it sometimes fails. There is a problem of silver retaining. This is because the conditioner is omitted. Also, the chemical used for reversal in combined color developer and reversal bath is highly toxic. This particular kit seems to be missing stabilizer altogether. Unlike in modern C-41 film. this is still required. In standard process, this is done by conditioner reacting with bleach. Tetenal's kits had a formalin based stabilizer/final rinse for this purpose. Stickt to the standard 6 bath E-9, if you can. Keeping any oarticular temperature when mixing liquid chemistry is not necessary, providing it is not boiling or ice cold water you are using. For powders, it is different, because they need to dissolve. DO NOT HOLD YOUR TANK ON THE TABLE, BUT PUT IT IN THE WATER BATH IN BETWEEN AGITATIONS!. Otherwise you have no control of the temperature, and your slides will be too dark. Most color films should be agitated quite aggressively. That is because the process is meant for machines with constant agitation. You won-t get any marks between the sprocket holes as you will with black & white film.

Thanks for the great review, I just got my hands on a very clean one off of eBay for $40 with a nice clean lens all working and I just loaded it up with some B&W film from the FPP. I will convert it to single after my first test. I've did it to an older Bolex and a few other cameras so I'm not worried. 😁

I recieved my 126 reloaded cartridge. Im having some trouble getting it to work in my instamatic X-15. I've watched all of these videos and I still can't seem to get it to work. Any ideas or pointers?

I've been developing E6 film for decades. One advantage is that you can push the film to higher ISOs. I took my cameras to concerts to capture the performances, Kiss, ELO, Black Sabbath Grand Funk Railroad are among my "pushed" films.

All films should be under 10 bucks. Don't they know they make more when they sell more instead of penny punching and overcharging? Its pennies to make, should be a couple bucks at most to buy.

This makes me a lot less nervous about trying home color developing for the first time!
